The main difference between a pergola and a pavilion is that a pavilion offers you a solid metal roof that protects you from the sun and rain. Pavilions are ideal for entertainment areas where you can include a grill or an outdoor kitchen. They are also widely used for around pools or simply a lounge area. The design of a pavilion is also a little different to that of a pergola as you will see from the photos below a pavilion typically has a pitched roof.
